About the plant

Xian ling pi is the Chinese epimedium, a low woodland perennial of shady slopes in Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei, with wiry stems, heart-shaped leathery leaflets edged with fine bristles, and small white flowers with long curved spurs. It is collected as the whole above-ground herb in summer. The genus is grown in Western gardens as barrenwort for its ability to hold dry shade.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Not for use in pregnancy or by anyone with a hormone-sensitive condition. Epimedium may lower blood pressure and may interact with blood-pressure medication and anticoagulants.
